Anesco named High Growth Business of the Year 2016

Outstanding growth has seen energy efficiency specialist, Anesco, take the top spot at a prestigious national business awards.
The coveted PwC Private Business Awards 2016, often referred to as the ‘Diamonds’, celebrate the best of UK private businesses and their contribution to communities and the economy. They highlight the country’s most pioneering and innovative firms.
Anesco was crowned the winner in the category of High Growth Business of the Year after a 33% growth in revenue in the last financial year saw turnover at the company hit £213m, with profit soaring to £24m.
Reading-based Anesco is recognised as one of the top 100 cleantech firms in the world. The company works with businesses, local authorities, housing associations and homeowners to reduce their carbon emissions and has helped to raise over 330,000 people out of fuel poverty.
CEO Kevin Mouatt commented: “It is fantastic to see Anesco and the efforts of the team recognised in this way. People are at the heart of the organisation and we wouldn’t be where we are today without their dedication, drive and passion to make a difference. We believe great companies are people-led companies, so we’ve created an environment where people can develop, grow, learn, enjoy, meet and beat their personal aspirations.”
He continued: “Anesco has always been at the forefront of the UK’s energy efficiency sector, successfully opening up new markets and bringing the latest cutting-edge innovations from across the globe to our customer base. This continues to be our aim, with battery storage solutions a major area of growth for us, since we installed the UK’s first utility scale unit back in 2014.”
Solar schemes installed and managed by Anesco are currently generating over 600MWh of electricity, which is enough to power more than 154,000 homes per year.
The company has battery storage units totaling 20MW in either operation, construction or delivery and is the largest commercial developer of such schemes in the UK. A further 50MW is due for installation by the end of this year, with 100MW planned for both 2017 and 2018.
With more than 150 permanent members of staff and up to 600 contractors and 103 supply chain partners and logistics staff employed at any one time, sustained growth saw Anesco top the Sunday Times Profit Track 100 league table earlier this year.
