Pre-EPC assessment and lodgement requirements

In September Anesco released a communication to confirm that both the assessment and lodgement of a pre-EPC must be done prior to the installation of a measure. We are still receiving pre-EPCs which have been assessed prior to install but may not be lodged until after, which will not be accepted.

Please note, Ofgem has stated “the EPC should be the most recent certificate issued before the installation date. This means that the date of EPC lodgement, should be prior to the installation date. While the use of the assessment date may be practical, the requirement for the pre-installation EPC to be issued prior to measure installation is set out in Article 2 of the Electricity and Gas (Energy Company Obligation) Order 2018”

To eliminate the risk of measures being rejected we recommend that you follow the steps below, which must be in order:

  1. EPC assessment and lodgement dates MUST be before the installation date.
  2. Ensure that EPCs are checked and are accurate before the measure takes place, Ofgem will not accept any re-lodgements of EPCs due to inaccuracies after install has been completed.
