Renewables developer Anesco has received a prestigious award for a fifth consecutive year in recognition of its outstanding occupational health and safety practices.
Anesco has been awarded a gold medal by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), after receiving top marks for its health and safety performance over the past five years. To achieve gold, Anesco has demonstrated strong occupational health and safety management systems, with outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss.
Steve Shine, Anesco executive chairman, commented: “We’re delighted to receive this award and it is testament to the commitment and hard work that the whole team puts in to upholding and applying safe working practices.”
He added: “As a developer managing the design and build of large scale energy projects, safety remains one of our core values and our record to date is something we’re very proud of.”
Anesco, headquartered in Aldermaston near Reading, employs in excess of 150 permanent members of staff, with up to 600 contractors and 103 supply chain partners and logistics staff employed at any one time.
Its specialist team has managed many of the UK’s largest and most complex renewable energy projects. Earlier this year, Anesco’s solar farm portfolio reached a landmark 101 sites, while the company is leading the way in energy storage with 28 operational sites totalling 29MW.
Since being founded, over 3.6million working hours have been delivered on site by Anesco with zero time lost due to injury.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.
“This is a special year in the history of RoSPA, and we congratulate all of our winners in this, our centenary year”.
