Christmas fancy dress helps Anesco team raise £5k for charity

Getting into the festive spirit by wearing bright and colourful Christmas outfits has helped a local energy efficiency company to raise over £5,000 for two local charities.
Over 130 staff at Anesco’s head office in Aldermaston, and team members based at sites around the UK, donned their best Christmas-themed costumes and tucked into festive treats as part of a special fundraising day.
All the money raised is to be split between two charities; St Michael’s Hospice in Basingstoke, which cares for people who are affected by life-limiting illnesses; and BIBS (Babies in Buscot Support) a registered charity that supports babies and their families in the special care baby unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.
The team is also collecting dry food goods for the Salvation Army and has already filled four large boxes that will be delivered to them just before Christmas.
Aidan Herbert, an ECO account manager at Anesco, commented: “The fundraising day was a fantastic success and I’m delighted to have been involved. The BIBS charity is one I am particularly proud to support as it is a cause very close to my heart. The team there has supported close family members of mine and what they do is truly amazing.”
He added: “The whole team at Anesco really got into the spirit of things, making donations and digging out an amazing array of Christmas jumpers and costumes – it’s not often you see a 7ft inflatable snowman walking round the office!”
Adrian Pike, Anesco CEO, said: “As a company we are strongly committed to supporting the local area and communities in which we operate. The team has raised a fantastic amount of money that will make a real difference to the two charities and help them continue supporting families through difficult times.
“It’s not only been our staff who have got behind the day, but a number of our suppliers and investors, who have made generous donations and supported our efforts. They have helped to make it our most successful Christmas fundraiser yet – beating last year’s total.”
He added: “One of our sales directors even managed to get the support and donations from passengers on a flight he was on. Overall, it’s just been a phenomenal team effort.”
