Anesco expands into Europe with the launch of Anesco Netherlands

UK renewables developer and service provider, Anesco, is powering up its international expansion plans with the launch of its first subsidiary outside the UK, Anesco Netherlands.

Wouter Beerten (pictured above) joins the company as Director of Anesco Netherlands and will head up the business from its newly opened Amsterdam office. Having worked in the solar and utilities sector for the last 12 years, Wouter is well placed to build a local team to secure and deliver a pipeline of large scale solar and energy storage projects, while also growing Anesco’s operation and maintenance service offering in the Dutch market.

Mark Futyan, Anesco CEO, commented: “Opening our first office outside the UK is a milestone moment for us and represents the start of a strategic European expansion programme, which will see us targeting significant growth in the next few years.

“The Netherlands is where we broke ground on our first projects outside of the UK, so it’s a fitting location to begin that journey and I’m delighted to have Wouter on board, to lead on opportunities in this new market. Our end-to-end capabilities and strong track record means we are well placed to work with investors across Europe, to accelerate their renewables ambitions and the transition to net zero.”

Wouter Beerten, director Anesco Netherlands, commented: “The Netherlands presents a fantastic opportunity for Anesco, especially in relation to the increasing levels of interest being shown in utility scale battery storage technology – an area in which Anesco is highly experienced. In tandem, Anesco’s O&M capabilities, especially for third-party assets, are an appealing proposition for established renewables developers.

“The solar PV market in the Netherlands may be one of the fastest growing in the world but there is still a lot of work to do if we are to hit government targets for decarbonising energy. I look forward to the challenge of carving out a market share for Anesco.”

Anesco has been working on solar projects in The Netherlands since 2020, on behalf of Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions, a business of Shell that invests in new and fast-growing segments of the energy industry.

In January 2022, Anesco energised a trio of solar farms for Shell, which are now being looked after by the company’s specialist operations and maintenance team. There are a 12MWp array in Emmen, a 14MWp solar farm located near to the town of Heerenveen, in the province of Friesland and a 30MWp solar installation in Sas Van Gent, in the province of Zeeland.
