Launchpad Charity benefitting from solar thanks to Anesco.

Project Outline

Anesco has installed a free rooftop solar scheme for charity Launchpad Reading, helping the organisation benefit from reduced energy bills, while improving its carbon footprint. Launchpad Reading aims to prevent homelessness and supports some of the region’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people. Last year the charity housed and helped 206 people and provided more than 600 individuals with advice, guidance and support.

When the team at Anesco discovered that the charity was to build a new accommodation building, they were keen to show their support. After approaching key suppliers to see if they would like to be involved, Anesco offered to supply and manage the free installation of a rooftop solar array.

Launchpad Reading

After assessing what would be the most suitable size and location for the solar panels, Anesco’s specialist team set to work installing 18 solar PV panels, with a combined capacity of 4.77kWp. The panels are now supplying electricity that can be used for lighting, heating and to power appliances within the property.

Anesco’s suppliers were delighted to support the project: Rexel shipped the modules and invertors to the site for free and supplied all the electrical accessories; K2 contributed the roof mounting kits for the solar panels; and MJ Electrical & Renewables provided free labour for the solar panel installation and certification for it being energised.

Thanks to the project, which has been delivered via Anesco’s Charitable Trust, Launchpad Reading has been able to reduce the amount of energy it needs to purchase from the grid, resulting in long term cost savings. By generating its own renewable energy, the charity has also improved its carbon footprint.
