Renewable energy developer, Anesco, has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of Vicky Wells as General Counsel (pictured below).
Anesco, based in Reading, is a UK market leader in renewable energy and manages the development, design, construction, maintenance and market optimisation of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
The company has constructed more than 100 solar farms and 30 energy storage facilities to date, while its operations and maintenance team has more than 24,000 assets under its care.
As General Counsel, Vicky will be responsible for overseeing Anesco’s legal function and will be providing expert guidance on all legal issues impacting the business. She joins Anesco having gained substantial experience in the renewable energy and power sectors, during a legal career that spans more than 18 years.
Having graduated from Oxford University, Vicky trained and qualified at Magic Circle law firm Clifford Chance, where she worked as part of the Energy & Infrastructure team. From there, Vicky moved to Centrica plc and over the course of eight years was Head of Legal, Power Generation with a focus on offshore wind and other power generation projects, and Associate General Counsel, Group Corporate.
For the last two years, Vicky has been working for a venture capital fund, working closely with innovative start-up businesses and their founders in both legal and operations roles.
Commenting on her appointment, Vicky said: “I’ve always been passionate about putting my legal skills to good use, to try and make a positive difference in the world, so I’m thrilled to join Anesco – a company that’s committed to driving the transition to renewable energy.”
She continued; “It’s great to be part of a dynamic organisation that has such an ambitious team at its core. Being a fast-moving business presents some challenges, particularly in relation to balancing the requirements of growth projects with day-to-day operations, but I’m looking forward to working closely with the senior team to support the company’s future growth.”
Mark Futyan, Anesco CEO, said: “Vicky is a highly qualified and experienced legal professional, who will be an asset to Anesco. She joins us at an exciting time, as we press ahead with a strong project pipeline and growing interest for our operational phase O&M and revenue optimisation services.”
