Powering a sustainable future

Anesco is committed to sustainability. As such, we recognise the impact we have on our people, the local communities in which we operate and the world around us.

Here are just some of the ways we are powering towards a sustainable future.

Operations

We operate safely, responsibly and causing the minimal impact to the environment.

Our head office is located at The Green, Easter Park, in Reading – a business park with environmental credentials that match our own. Our sustainably designed and energy efficient buildings are heated by low carbon ground source heat pumps and we benefit from renewable energy generated by a roof top solar array.

Our field-based teams are encouraged to carry out their roles responsibly and with awareness for the impact they are having on the local community and environment. For example, our fleet are monitored by specialist telematics which encourage responsible driving and lower emissions.

We are proud to have achieved eight consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards for our approach to health and safety, along with various ISO accreditations including for environmental performance, quality management, and health and safety management.

Projects

As a leading player in the UK’s cleantech market, we continually work to improve what we do and how we do it. We are proud to be supporting the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy by helping customers realise their renewables ambitions and ensuring the greatest environmental benefit is achieved from every project.

From advanced technical design and project planning, through to sourcing the most reliable components and maintaining sites to ensure they continue to operate at their optimal efficiency, we ensure the greatest returns are achieved. Alongside this, we always have an eye on new and emerging technologies and methods of best practice that may further improve efficiency and performance.

As one of the UK’s largest Energy Company Obligation (ECO) providers, we have also helped to raise more than 350,000 people out of fuel poverty by improving the energy efficiency of some of the country’s most vulnerable households.

Our People

We are committed to our employees and supporting their ongoing training, development and wellbeing. Our goal is to foster a diverse, open and dynamic culture that fully engages and support employees to achieve their full potential.

Investors in People was one of the first accreditations Anesco ever aimed for and we were delighted to go straight in at Gold – something only a handful of companies have ever achieved.

When it comes to recruitment, we identify good people through a robust recruitment process that looks at the skills candidates have today, but with a strong focus on their potential for the future. Once with us, employees take part in our in-house training programmes, receive regular appraisals and mentoring sessions.

Frequent business-wide communications help keep team members informed about company updates and new opportunities, as well as providing an insight into how different divisions work. This includes video messages by our CEO and breakfast clubs that are open to all team members. Inspiring new spaces designed to encourage collaboration and social interaction have also been introduced at our head office.

Employees benefit financially from the performance of the business on an annual basis.

Health and wellbeing

We have introduced flexible working to better support our employees to manage their responsibilities outside of work and to achieve a positive work/life balance.

Our free dedicated employee assistance programme ‘Anesco Smart Health’ offers employees specialist support with health and wellbeing, including a virtual GP service, counselling and nutrition advice. We also host onsite wellbeing roadshows and offer services such as flu jab clinics and mole checks.

Our communities

We are committed to supporting the local communities in which we operate, for example by using locally based teams and suppliers to help stimulate employment and the local economy.

When it comes to our developments we are proud to be best in class in terms of biodiversity and community engagement – involving the local community in the process as much as we can.

We not only create flourishing habitats on our solar farms in accordance with planning rules but go far beyond that, maximising the positive impact they have for local wildlife and species that are most under threat.
